Happy Birthday to me!!

Yep today is my birthday. It's Dolores Duck's and Marilyn Gibbens birthday too so we all celebrate this special day of ours together. Well, not actually together cause Melanie is in Ohio but Dolores and I are here in FL. We send cards and lots of good wishes to Marilyn and wish she could be here too but she can't so we just make the best of it. Usually we go out to eat but this year is different. Dolores's breast cancer has returned and she's in Hospice now so I will go to her house and we will have pizza with the works and a piece of birthday cake thanks to her loving husband, Bill. Her grandaughter Sara will be there to celebrate with us too.

Did I mention that I went to lunch with Melanie last Friday.  We met at Disney's Grand Floridian and had lunch at The Cafe.
NO. This is not a picture of me and Melanie. It just happens to be one of my favorite graphics so of course I just had to use it here. Anyway, there's really nothing better than meeting a great friend, eating some great food, being in a lovely environment and enjoying some great conversation. Thanks Melanie for a lovely time. So if you're ever at Disney World or in Orlando, give us a shout and we'll share a luncheon with you too.
Now this IS a picture of Melanie & me. And that carriage in the back of us is the wedding carriage that Disney uses for their weddings. Pretty neat, huh?

Well it's almost time for coffee at Joyce's so I'll run Dahli up to the dog walk before going over. Thanks so much to all of you that left Birthday wishes on my Facebook page. I will leave a 'thank you' for each one even if it takes a few days. I sure appreciate you wonderful wishes. Until next time . . . God bless.
Are you wondering just how old this old lady is? OK I'll tell you. I'm 75 years young. So there . . . now you know. As if anyone cares.

My Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window... it's dark outside.

I am thinking... that it seems strange to be posting to SWD in the evening instead of in the morning like I usually do.

I am thankful... for all my dear, caring friends here at Lake Bonnet Village.

From the learning rooms...I'm learning how to install indoor/outdoor carpeting in my Florida Room the hard way. I think it's called 'trial and error'.

In the kitchen... supper dishes are done and the stove even got cleaned.

I am wearing... jean bermudas, pink Liz tee, and my new Okabashi sandals.

I am creating...

I am going... to celebrate my birthday with Dolores on Wednesday.

I am wondering... if Melanie enjoyed our lunch as much as I did.

I am reading... "Hummingbird Lake" by Emily March

I am hoping... that Ginny feels better soon and gets out of the hospital

I am looking forward to... my birthday on Wednesday.

I am hearing... the TV in the other room

Around the house... did several loads of laundry today.

One of my favorite things... Peanut M & M's.

A few plans for the rest of the week: finish trimming the carpeting tomorrow, Birthday dinner with Dolores and her family on Wednesday, a much needed haircut on Thursday.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... Here's my Birthday gift from Ginny. A huge bag of Peanut M & M's. Yummy!! My Favorite.

Are you thinking of joining us? Please give it a try by clicking on the link below.

Kitchen Garden

Hooray! No doctors visits today. Both days my appointments were late. On Monday, my 2 o'clock appointment happened at 3 o'clock. Yesterday my 2:30 appointment happened at 4 o'clock. I think we should start charging the doctors for making us wait. Or perhaps bill the office staff for overbooking. I'm just sayin'.

I'm giving all the gardens and inside plants a good watering since I'll be gone for the next couple of days. Thought I would share a picture of my kitchen table garden. Just love this little group of plants. They love the sun and the kitchen table is in an alcove surrounded by 5 windows so they are always very happy little plants.
Tomorrow is Andy's birthday and mine is next week. Every year we celebrate our birthdays at Cape May Cafe restaurant an Disney's Beach Club Resort. Their special  feature is a clambake and we splurge every year with dinner there. It's a buffet of everything you would find at a traditional clam bake plus crab legs. All you can eat and boy we sure do.

Friday afternoon I'm meeting Melanie for lunch at the Disney's Grand Floridian.  We met a few years ago at the Yacht and Beach Club so this year we picked a new place to go. Can't wait to see her again. Guess you could say I'm have a couple of Disney Days.

Time for coffee at Joyce's. I've missed going the past few days because of my doctor appointments so it'll be fun to catch up on the latest news (ok gossip) today. Until next time, God bless!

Screen room re-do

This weeks project - re-do the screen room that looks like this.

Cranberry carpeting

Loveseat from Lowe's

Chairs from Lowe's

The carpeting comes on Monday. My neighbor Jimmy, was supposed to install the carpeting for me but he's back in New Jersey right now so I guess I'm on my own with the install. It's indoor/outdoor stuff and I'm not glueing it down so all I've gotta do is trim it. The carpet store gave me a carpet cutter and razor blades so I should do ok.  I think they felt sorry for me! hehe!

Ginny is still in the hospital. She had a bronchoscopy this morning and she's doing much better now.  She gets to come home on Monday. Can't come soon enough for her! Thanks for your prayers!

I'll be around to visit in the morning. Until then . . . God bless! Hugz!!

Money bags

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
Once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to
Your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese
Feng Shui. The one who does not forward.....will be without money.

Kinda interesting - read on!!!

This year we're going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
The age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of
The Money!!!

The proverb goes that if you send this to eight good friends money will
Appear in next four days as it is explained in Chinese FENGSHUI.

Those who don't continue the chain won't receive.......

Its a mystery, but its worth a try. Good luck.

I didn't forward this to any friends so I didn't get any money. Interesting though, isn't it?

My friend, Ginny will be admitted to the hospital today for breathing problems. I'll be driving her over around 10 so I'm off to get dressed and walk Dahli before I have to leave. I'll be around later to visit. Hugz!

Summer Rains

It's half past noon and I'm just now getting to blog. It's because the afternoon summer rains have arrived.  I've had to readjust my routine in the morning. So instead of the puter and household tasks in the morning, it's pool and gardening.  In the beginning, it's difficult to change my routine but by the September gets here I won't even notice it.

Is anyone else watching the Impossible Expedition? It's on ABC on Thursday evenings at 9. It reminds me of Amazing Race with a big difference. Some of the challenges they face are practically impossible so the name of the show really fits. It's pretty good so far. You should watch and let me know what you think.

I've been feeling guilty about not exercising as much as I used to.  Just when I was about to start a new program, I got this message from a friend.  Thanks Anna.
Think about this.

1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal but he isn't.
2. Why is a whale who swims all day, only eats fish & drinks only water still fat?
3. A rabbit runs and hops, eats grass yet only lives 15 years.
4. A tortoise doesn't run, barely walks & does nothing... yet lives for 100 years.
So much for starting a new program.

I'm starting to get more acquainted with all the features in blogspot. Yesterday I learned how to add a page and so Dahli's page was born.  I've got to post a new piccie of her but otherwise it's pretty much finished.  My next page will be for the farm. Now you know what I'll be doing this afternoon while it's raining.

Until next time . . . God bless.

Baby Clara goes home!

Good morning. It's a lovely warm sunny morning here. Leslie & baby Clara (Joyce's granddaughter & great) headed back to Idaho this morning. We're really going to miss her. Baby Clara has been the center of attention at coffee hour every day. We all learned about all the new stuff going on with having baby's these days. What surprised me the most? Leslie doesn't use disposable diapers. I didn't think there was anyone left who washed diapers. Who knew? Wish I could post a piccie of Clara but her Mom doesn't permit it.

I have a new toy!! One of the ladies at coffee announced that she had a Garmin 1450 for sale. She just bought a new car with a built-in Garmin so she doesn't need the one she just bought in June. Turns out I've been wanting one so I jumped at the chance to get one at a great price. Instead of getting directions from Google I'll program my Garmin. Now that's what I call 'getting with the program'!
Not Guilty! for Casey Anthony. What a shocker! Another O.J. is what some folks have said and I must admit that I agree with the analogy. Right now, I'm sick of the whole thing and promise not to mention it again.

I'm off to check my Facebook pages and then I'll be around to visit. Until next time . . . God bless.

An early morning and busy day for me. I was off to 8 o'clock Mass by 7:30 followed by grocery shopping at Wal-Mart. Has anybody else noticed how pricey groceries are getting? Geese. I mean there's only ONE of me and it seems I can't get out of the store w/o spending $100. Bummer!
Tomorrow is our 4th of July celebration at the Community Hall. We ordered fried chicken from Publix for the main course and everyone brings a dish to share. I decided I would get one of Marie Callender's Razzleberry pies. Everyone here just loves them so I know it will be a welcome addition to the desert table. If you've never had one here's a description from the back of the box. All of her pies are dee-lish.

"What is the Razzle in our wonderful Razzleberry pie? It's daring. It's delightful. It's downright delicious.
It's the perfect pairing of red, ripe raspberries and sweet, juicy blackberries baking together in our legen-
dary flaky pastry crust. Berry, berry good indeed!"

The pie is baked and looking just perfect so I'm pretty much all ready for tomorrow.
I'm watching the Casey Anthony trial on TV today. I sure would hate to be on that jury. I pray they are able to reach a reasonable verdict and that it doesn't wind up a hung jury. Nothing else going on so I'm off to visit. Hugz!

Happy July!!

Happy month of July. Can you tell that maybe it's my favorite month of the year? Well it is cuz it's my birthday month and that's always a happy time for me. Let's hope that holds true this year as well.

Happy Canada Day to all my friends to the North. Having Prince William and Kate visiting must make it an even more special day for you. We're excited about them coming to the USA.

I haven't been to the pool for a while cause of the shingles but today that changes. Joyce's granddaughter is here from Idaho with her little baby girl named Clara. They will be going to the pool with me. You know I'll be looking forward to playing with baby Clara in the pool.

I've been on a 'Made in the USA' kick lately and found a pair of flip-flops that are made in the USA.

I ordered a pair in yellow for $12.99.  If and when I wear them out I return them to be recycled. Pretty neat, huh? You can take a look at them by clicking on the link below.

I'm off to get ready for the pool. Wonder why the size of the printing changed? Oh well. Until next time . . . God bless!
