Happy Thanksgiving

May  your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your  potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be  delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your  Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your  thighs!

Happy  Thanksgiving Everyone!

I AM “THANKFUL”

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED .

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME .

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION .

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEYBECAUSE IT MEANS I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MANY E-MAILS BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

Thanks!!

Rosie will be here soon.  She has a doctor's appointment in Sarasota and doesn't want to go alone.  I wouldn't want to either so I'm going with her. In the meantime, I'm using the time to post an entry.

Shan & Trudy are snowbirds & while they are in Ohio for the summer, I watch over their place down here and tend the yard when it's needed.  In return, they feel they need to gift me with something special every year as a "thank you".  I keep telling them it's not necessary but they feel it is. Anyway, here's my special little gift for this year. Isn't it just the sweetest?
She's an adorable addition to my Florida room so I'm so happy to have her. Thanks so much Shan & Trudy. You didn't have to do this but I'm so glad you did. Until next time . . . God bless.

My Simple Womans Daybook

FOR TODAY:

Outside my window . . . We had sunshine all morning but this afternoon it's clouded over and the wind is blowing all the leaves around in pretty little circles.

I am thinking . . . I have some new neighbors. . . Tom & Brenda Benedict from Michigan. The RV section of the park must be full so they get to park their rig here in the Park Model section for the winter months. It's so fun to have new folks to meet & greet. Hope they enjoy their time here at Lake Bonnet Village.

I am thankful . . . for the lovely community that we have here at LBV. We are a group of fun loving, caring and thoughtful Seniors who by the grace of God just happened to gather in this particular part of the world.

From the learning rooms . . . (if this applies)

In the kitchen . . . made a big pot of corned beef and cabbage yesterday so it's leftovers tonight.

I am wearing . . . jeans, a gold top and tennies

I am creating . . .

I am going . . . to Joyce's for coffee and then to Bingo this evening.

I am wondering . . .

I am reading . . .

I am hoping . . . to get a new Club Car but when I checked prices on the used ones today I decided I may have to hope a little longer.:)

Around the house . . . Did a quick clean on Saturday and got everything done except dusting in the great room. Seems like I'll not be getting it done today either. There's always tomorrow. (I think!)

I am pondering . . .  what I need to do get my banking business switched over from the banks to one of the  Credit Unions.

One of my favorite things . . . oval braided rugs

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . a visit to the local Credit Union tomorrow. Re-pot Doris's ivy, send a thank you note to Trudy for the lovely planter & finish hanging the shutters I already painted.

Here is picture I am sharing . . . my new neighbor's rig.

Blessing of Pets

As autumn arrives, people in various places may notice something odd.

A procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and even horses, is led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets.

This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.

Today over 62 million cats in the U.S. attests to the continuing affection we have for our furry, feathered or finned friends.

We've even had a cat called Socks in the White House. Other popular presidential pets range from Abraham Lincoln’s Fido to Lyndon Johnson’s beagles, named Him and Her.

For single householders, a pet can be a true companion. Many people arrive home from work to find a furry friend overjoyed at their return. Many a senior has a lap filled with a purring fellow creature.

The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. Eye-to-eye, a man and his dog, or a woman and her cat, are two creatures of love.

No wonder people enjoy the opportunity to take their animal companions to church for a special blessing. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated.
The pets were all well behaved so it seems that they understood that they needed to be on their best behavior because something special was happening. It was short & sweet but definitely a lovely ceremony.

Hand & Foot

Yesterday was our 1st Hand & Foot Tournament. It was organized by our co-op Secretary Linda Haven. Linda and her hubby, Byron spend their summers at Cloud 9 in Arkansas and come back to Lake Bonnet Village in the Fall with tons of ideas. The Tournament was her latest great idea. We had a great time and here's a piccie of the winners.
Linda Haven, Ron Medema & Marilyn Eldred
Claire Tracy is missing from the picture.

The driveway that I painted last week was finally ready for vehicle parking this week so here's Bessie proudly parking on her new spot. Phew! I'm sooooooooooo glad that job is done!
I'm pleased that the color of the driveway matches the color of the car almost perfectly. Pretty good, huh?

Dahli goes to the groomer shortly so I guess I better go!. Until next time . . . God bless!
