3, 2, 1 Cake

WANT A PIECE OF CAKE BUT DON'T WANT TO BAKE AN ENTIRE BIG CAKE ..... HERE IT IS !!!!
ONE PIECE OF CAKE IN ONE SHORT MINUTE !! YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS !!!
3, 2, 1 Cake
This is perfect for those of us with just one or two in the house these days, hate to make a huge cake, (cause I tend to eat it all). This way you can make 3, 2, 1 ... or as many as you need.

3, 2, 1 CAKE
These individual little cakes are amazing and ready to eat in one minute! They are perfect for whenever you feel like a treat without all the fat and calories that cake can have. Genius idea!

INGREDIENTS:
1 box 1-step Angel Food Cake Mix
1 box Cake Mix - Any Flavor
2 Tbsp Water
Makes 1 serving.

DIRECTIONS:
In a ziploc bag, combine the two cake mixes together and mix well. For each individual cake serving, take out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix combination and mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe container. Microwave on high for 1 minute, and you have your own instant individual little cake! KEEP remaining cake mixture stored in the ziploc bag and use whenever you feel like a treat! You can top
each cake with a dollop of fat free whipped topping and/or some fresh fruit.

Helpful Tips:
This recipe is called 3, 2, 1 Cake because all you need to remember is
"3 tablespoons mix,
2 tablespoons water,
1 minute in the microwave!"

TRY various flavors of cake mix like carrot, red velvet, pineapple, lemon, orange, etc. Just remember that one of the mixes has to be the angel food mix; the other is your choice. The flavor possibilities are endless!

NOTES:
The best thing is, you open both cake mixes into a gallon storage bag, one that 'zip locks' or 'self-seals', or a container that seals tightly, shake the two cake mixes to blend and then make the recipe. Storage of mix is simple, put it on a shelf. No need to refrigerate, since the mix is dry.

Always remember, one of the cake mixes MUST be Angel Food. The other can be any flavor. The Angel Food is the cake mix that has the egg whites in it. So, if, anyone is allergic to egg whites, you can NOT serve this recipe.

My Simple Womans Daybook

FOR TODAY:  Driving home from the farm.

Outside my window...
The sun is shining but it's a fooler . . . it looks warm but it's pretty chilly out there.  There's a little patch of fog sitting right at the end of the drive.

I am thinking...
that I will wait until around 9 o'clock before starting out for home.

I am thankful...
for  a wonderful w/e with Melanie & Claudia

In the kitchen...
Dick just started a fresh pot of coffee and it smells great.

I am wearing...
My usual stay warm morning outfit: navy blue sweats and a pink sweat shirt.

I am creating...
No puzzle this week.

I am going...
home today.

I am wondering...
what 'to do' about the picture problem with LBV's facebook page

I am reading...

I am hoping...
for a safe trip home.

I am looking forward to...
going to Disney with Claudia & Tony again.

I am learning
that all the folks at LBV are not so friendly after all.

Around the house...
Hope to find all is well when I get home.

I am pondering...
How to appreciate the small stuff.  I am going to appreciate every small joy or smile today.

A favorite quote for today...
"Years are only garments & you either wear them with style all your life or you go dowdy to the grave."
Dorothy Parker

One of my favorite things...
Walt Disney World but I guess you already knew that.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
It will probably be a routine stuff this week including cards and bingo.  The big event will be the Hand & Foot Tournament on Wednesday.

A peek into my day...

Disney Day with Claudia

My very happy Disney Day with Claudia!!
We met at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  I had 2 eggs over-easy, 2 sausage links and 2 of their sweet potato pancakes topped with cinnamon butter.  The pancake were something new to me and they were really good.  I liked them.

After breakfast, we headed over to the Marketplace at Disney.  Dick got me a watch for Christmas and the wrist band needed a few links removed.  OMG! I had a chance to look at all the gorgeous ones they had there but decided to stay with the one Dick had originally selected.  It fits just fine now with some of the links removed.   Isn't it pretty?  Claudia got a watch too but I'll let her tell you all about hers.
One of my favorite places at the Marketplace is Captain Jack's.  The building sits right on the water and looks like it's floating but it's not.  It was pretty close to noon so I suggested going there for lunch.

On the way to Captain Jack's, Claudia spotted a Great American Egret sitting on one of the boats docked there. He was so beautiful!
What a great lunch! Dick & I shared a peel & eat serving of shrimp.  I also a cup of New England clam chowder and washed that down with a extra spicey Bloody Mary. Deeee- lish!  Afterwards, we headed over to Ghirardelli.

Can you tell we're enjoying our ice cream cones?  Oops! Claudia didn't get a cone.

Tony is liking his cherry cheesecake cup of ice cream too!

Time to leave now and as we passed by this lovely arrangement of flower pots, I couldn't resist taking this piccie of them.
A big 'thanks' to Claudia & Tony for such a delightful day.

Hope your Sunday was as lovely as mine.

Disney Day with Melanie

Today was my day at Disney with Melanie.   So fun!  Our plan was to meet & eat lunch at the Kona Kafe in the Polynesian Resort.  Here's a few piccies so you can see what a gorgeous place this is.  Well, anyway, I think so.

The entrance to the lobby is highlighted by waterfalls and lush vegetation on both sides of the entrance.

This fella welcomes you as you get closer to the lobby.  I do believe he's sticking his tongue at me. That's not very nice.

Once inside the lobby I see more waterfalls and more lush green plants!
Entrance to the Kona Kafe.
I wish I had taken piccies of the food we were served.  I had a juicy burger with lettuce, tomato & mayo topped off with a fruit cup.  yummy!
Melanie had a fish sandwich with sweet potato fries.  Hers looked yummy too!

The views behind the lobby aren't so shabby either.  Straight ahead is the heated pool and Bay Lake.

Last but not least, a pix of the majestic lady that we call The Grand Floridian who overshadows everything on Bay Lake.  She's a beauty, isn't she?

I'm kicking myself because I just realized Melanie & I did not pose for a piccie of us. How could I forget that? Me bad. I'll try to do better tomorrow because . . . .

It's another fun day for me.  Dick & I will be meeting Claudia  and her hubby for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel.  No doubt about it!  It's a truly fun w/e.

More positive thoughts

Dahli & I are off to the groomer this morning so I don't have much time to play right now.  Here's a few more positive thoughts to share with you.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
   and all are different colors....but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who
can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

   Have an awesome day, and
   know that someone
   who thinks you're great
   has thought about you today!..

Positive Thoughts

Good morning! Today is election day for Co-op Board Members here at Lake Bonnet Village so I'll be gone most of the morning.  Here's a few more positive thoughts to share with you today. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

THE  POSITIVE  SIDE  OF  LIFE:

Most of us go to our grave
with our music still inside of us.

If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day,
how come nothing is free yet?

You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun
   to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over;
   smile because it happened.

That's all folks! Have a few more for tomorrow but right now it's time to get ready to go! Bye!

Soup & Sandwich

Today is soup & sandwich lunch at the Community Hall.  I had broccoli cheese and a baked ham sandwich.  It was yummy!  I have a new series of items to share with you today.  It's called:
The Positive Side of Life

 Living on Earth is expensive,
but it does include a free trip
   around the sun every year.

How long a minute is
depends on what side of the
   bathroom door you're on.

Birthdays are good for you;
   the more you have,
   the longer you live.

Happiness comes through doors you
didn't even know you left open.

Ever notice that the people who are late
   are often much jollier
than the people who have to wait for them?
That's all folks!!
Come back tomorrow for a few more positive thoughts!

Vitamin F

This came in an email today & I just love it and want to share it with you...

Vitamin F . . . . .

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character?  How can I get along with them all?  I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me.
With one of them I am polite.  I joke with another friend. I sit down and talk about serious matters with one.  With another I laugh a lot.  I may have a coke with one.  I listen to one friend's problems.  Then I listen to another one's advice for me.

My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.  When completed, they form a treasure box.  A treasure of friends!  They are my friends who understand me better than myself, who support me through good days and bad days.  We all pray together and for each other.

Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health.  Dr. Oz calls them Vitamins F (for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends as essential to our well being. Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes. If you enjoy Vitamins F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age. The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%.

I'm so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!

In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them.  We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, and pray for each other in the tough moments.

Thank you for being one of my Vitamins!

More Clever Ideas

MORE CLEVER IDEAS WORTH KNOWING

Expanding  Frosting:
When you buy a container of cake  frosting from the store, whip it with your  mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same  amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per  serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits,  pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them  in a microwave with a cup of water. The  increased moisture will keep the food moist and  help it reheat faster.

Newspaper  weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work  the nutrients in your soil.  Wet newspapers. Put  layers around the plants overlapping as you go.  Cover with mulch, and forget about weeds.  Weeds will get through some gardening plastic; they will not get through wet newspapers.

Broken  Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't  see easily.

No More  Mosquitoes:
Place a dryer sheet in your  pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes  away. (Harold has put this under the back of this cap (when mowing the lawn) for years, & it works—so he says.

Squirrel  Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your  plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne  pepper.  The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant  and the squirrels won't come near it.  (Wonder if this works with rabbits?  Sure gonna give it a try)

Flexible  vacuum
To get something out of a heat  register or under the fridge add an empty paper  towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your  vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow  openings.

Reducing Static  Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of  your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress.  Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing  panty hose.  Place pin in seam of  slacks and ... TA DA! ... Static is gone.

Measuring  Cups
Before you pour sticky substances  into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup.  Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.
Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields?  Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car when the windows fog, rub with the eraser!  Works better than a cloth!

Reopening envelopes:
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

Hair Conditioner
Use your hair  conditioner toshave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving  cream and  leaves your legs really  smooth.  It's also a great way to use up the
conditioner  you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.

Goodbye Fruit  Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take  a small glass, fill it ½” with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well.  You will find those flies drawn to the cup an d gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of  cornmeal where you see ants.  They eat it, take it “home”, can't digest it so it kills them.  It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it  works and you don't have the worry about pets  or small children being harmed!
(This I will definitely try!!!)

DRYER SHEETS & CLOTHES  DRYERS
The heating unit went out on my  dryer! The gentleman that fixes appliances told me that he wanted to  show me something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter.  It was  clean.

He took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it.  The lint filter is made of a mesh material.  I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like.  Well...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh!  It didn't go through it at all!  The  dryer sheets cause a film over that  mesh & that's what burns out the heating unit.  You can't SEE the  film, but it's there.

It's what is in the dryer r sheets to make your  clothes soft and static free…that nice fragrance too.  You know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box...well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen.  This is also what  causes dryer units to potentially burn your house down with it!  The best way to keep  your dryer working for a very longtime (and to keep your  electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it  with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months.

That makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long!  How about that!?!  Learn something new every day!  I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that.  So, I thought I'd share!

My Simple Womans Daybook

For today: Better late than never.

Outside my window...It's dark outside and time for bed.  No full moon to light the way.

I am thinking... that I should have done my entry this morning and can't remember why I didn't

I am thankful... for the 'thank you' notes that came today from Sue and Sierra.

In the kitchen... a fresh pot of coffee is perking away making all sorts of strange noises.  I'll be grabbing a cup just as soon as it's done.

I am wearing... pajamas and slippers

I am creating...

I am going... to bed just as soon as I finish my SWD

I am wondering... if we will have a good turnout for cardBingo tomorrow

I am reading...

I am hoping... to figure out how to gain some weight

I am looking forward to... lunch with Melanie on the 28th and breakfast with Claudia & Tony on the 29th.

I am learning . . .

Around the house... need to clean leaves tomorrow

I am pondering... how to shake the lazies and become more productive.

A favorite quote for today... "On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it" Jules Renard

One of my favorite things... the smell of freshly brewed coffee

A few plans for the rest of the week: card Bingo on Wednesday, the flower nursery on Thursday, cards on Friday and Saturday.

IF I DIDN'T HAVE A DOG OR CAT . . .

I could walk around the yard barefoot.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without
wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money, and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians,
as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be:
out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'.
'Yummy yummy for the tummy'...
My house would not look like a day
care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like
poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L,, W-A-L-K,,
T-R-E-A-T,, O-U-T,, G-O,, R-I-D-E,, C-O-O-K-I-E
I would not have as many
leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having
ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.
I would not have to answer the question...
'Why do you have so many animals?'
from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing
they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an ANGEL
as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!!!

Life Before Computers

This came in an email this morning.  I just have to share it with you.
It's so true . . . we can all relate!

I took the quiz mentioned on Toni's  page called: What Type of Weather Are You?.  Here's my result:
You Are Sunshine

Soothing and calm
You are often held up by others as the ideal
But too much of you, and they'll get burned
You are best known for: your warmth
Your dominant state: connecting

Thanks Toni

More Clever Ideas

Another gorgeous day is Florida today but . . . things will soon be changing.  We start with rain tomorrow which we desperately need followed by a cool down by the end of the week.  That means my pool time will be coming to an end shortly. Darn!!  Hopefully, this system will pass quickly and we'll be back in the pool in no time.

Not much going on so it's time to share more clever ideas with you.

CLEVER IDEAS WORTH KNOWING

For a cool brownie  treat, make brownies as directed.  Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies.
Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light tasteof garlic,  and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of  garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert.  Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core  and slice a few apples. Place themin a baking dish  and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples.  Bake at  350for 15 minutes!!!  Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.  Yummm!

How to reheat  Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet  on top of the stove, set heat to med-low
and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy—no soggy micro pizza.

I saw this on  the cooking channel and it really works.
Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks  in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up.
Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up  mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture  into egg.  Just throw bag away when done easy clean  up.
