Beautiful

seems to be the perfect word to describe the Golden Wedding Anniversary Party here in the Village yesterday.  The ladies on the committee transformed our Community Hall into a romantic lovefest for the 6 couples who will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year.  And they said: "it wouldn't last".

Here's the stage where each couple took turns sitting on the love seat while their personal story was narrated to the audience.  Each love story was unique and beautiful.

A little story to share here.  Did you notice the black curtain circling the stage?  The committee talked about purchasing black sheets to hang which would have cost over $200.  I remembered seeing black background cloth at the farm where my son, Andy lives.  I asked him about the background cloth and he donated a whole role of Duvateen to make the stage background.  Andy is a stagehand specializing in lighting and sound equipment so he uses drapes all the time.  Wasn't that nice of him?

Here's the cake that my neighbor Doris baked and decorated for the Party.  You did a beautiful job Doris.
The cake is still in the refrigerator when I'm taking this picture but once the party started it took it's place of honor on this table.
Yesterday's Party is the very first 50th Wedding Anniversary Party I've ever attended and I was really impressed.  Personally, I will never be one of those who will reach that milestone in my life but I hope that not a single year goes by where we don't celebrate a 50th Anniversary Party here in the Village.

So that was my Sunday.  What was yours like? Later . . .

  1. Marge, first of all thank you for stopping by my blog. I do appreciate the company. :)

I love these 50th anniversary parties. I think yours took the cake for best staging. I know your friends appreciated it.

  2. Hi Marge,
Yes we went to the same Dentist and thought it would be nice to stop at the farm but thought Grumpy (Tony wouldn't be very good company). As it turned out the dentist didn't freeze him just glued his bridge back in. Glad that's over with. The stage looks so nice, good idea to ask Andy for the curtains. I'm icing my foot, wish I didn't wear those Sketchers. *hugs*

  5. Hi Marge, oh what a beautiful party and yes it was fantastic of your son to donate the backdrop. He is sweet like his mom :-) So do you have a have double wide trailer now? You did change parks didn't you? I am remembering your trailer and thought it was a single wide. Oh well I'm just thrilled you have such a lovely place to live!! *hugs*

Wow, isn't it beautiful! Isn't it something to be married for 50 years?! I think those couples deserved this and much, much more - sooo pretty, and congratulations to all of them!

    Hugs,
