It is . . .

MEMORIAL DAY

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the
VETERAN who
salutes the Flag,

It is
the
VETERAN
who serves
under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON
THEM.  MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. AMEN.

  1. Happy Saturday, Marge!
What a wonderful Veteran tribute, just beautiful. So glad that you had a great Disney time and what an adventure through the traffic and grassy 'road' you had! lol. That's awesome. Sounds like you made some more cherished memories with your boys. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and week ahead! ((hugs))

  2. Hi Marge, Happy Memorial Day Monday. My daughter used to recite that every Memorial Day. She is an Army veteran. I also wrote a poem for her and other vets. Hope today is a blessing for you my friend. Hugs

  3. Hi Marge! Happy Memorial Day and thanks for the very truthful post! My dad and Jeff are both veterans. Justin never had to serve which I'm grateful for but I admire the mom's who have soldier sons! (((Hugz)))
