If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  It's My Simple Womans Daybook Day
Outside my window...  cloudy, windy, rain . . . Tropical Storm Isaac is here.

I am thinking...

I am thankful...   that the storm is not a 'wind event' for us.  Hopefully the high winds won't be a problem for the remainder of the State.

In the kitchen...  Perdue's boneless, skinless chicken breasts are defrosting and I'll be making the "The World's Best Chicken" for today's dinner.

The World’s Best Chicken
Serves 4

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
Salt & Pepper
Rosemary

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a small bowl, mix together mustard, syrup, and vinegar. Place chicken breasts into 9×13 baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour mustard mixture over chicken. No need to marinate. I love that because I hate marinating/often forget to until it’s too late.

Bake for 40 minutes or until meat thermometer reads 165 degrees. Season with rosemary. Prepare for people to ask you to make it again!

I am wearing...   still in my pj's.  No hurry to get dressed today.

I am creating...  a new list of September activities for those of us here in the Village.

I am going...  the farm on Thursday.  Planning for some shopping days with Dick

I am reading...  I finished "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks and started "Moon Shell Beach" by Nancy Thayer

I am looking forward to... a Fall getaway.  Destination: a secret.

I am learning... how to grow Caladiums

Around the house...  the awnings are down to protect the windows from flying debris and that makes it really dark in here.  Hope the get raised today.

I am pondering...   what to do with my hair.  It's no longer the thick & easy to care for. For some reason, it's falling out in droves and the hair dresser says it's normal for hair loss to occur. Hmmm?

A favorite quote for today...  "They tell you that you'll lose your mind when you grow older. What they don't tell you is that you won't miss it."  Malcolm Cowley 1898-1989

One of my favorite things...  are Festivals.  We went to The Caladium Festival in Lake Placid on Friday and had a great time.  I got a potted caladium and now I've got to learn how to care for it.  I also found a darling bird feeder that I couldn't resist.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  get awnings raised today,  Bunco at Shriner's on Tuesday,  shuffle and cardBingo on Wednesday, leave for the farm on Thursday. Another fun week.

A peek into my day...

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  It's My Simple Womans Daybook Day.
Outside my window... the sun is shining and it's time for me to go to the pool and finish this & visit when I get back.

I am thinking...  that I probably spent too much time at the pool today.  My skin is feeling sorta tingly.

I am thankful... for life and the wisdom to live it to the fullest.

In the kitchen... I baked banana bread (a box mix) on Saturday and am planning on a pineapple upside cake today but the pool got in the way. Maybe tomorrow.  Oh no. I'm going to the movies tomorrow. Just forget it

I am wearing... Aren't you proud of me for not being in my pajamas toady?  It's plaid shorts and a yellow tee top and barefoot.

I am creating... a web page at WordPress for the park I lived in in Ohio.  Going back over all those pages that I saved is bringing back some tearful memories.

I am going... skip Joyce's today.  I've been pretty good about going every day but today I need a little nap.

I am wondering... if the rain that's pouring down on us is going to end soon.  Dahli hates storms

I am reading... "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks.  I have "Moon Shell Beach" and "Summerland" in the cue.

I am hoping... that all of you enjoy "Hope Springs" as much as I did.  Meryl Streep is fabulous and so was Tommy Lee Jones.

I am looking forward to... going to the movies tomorrow with the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" group.  We're gonna see Disney's new "The Odd Life of Timothy Green".  Looks good.  I'll let you know what I think.

I am learning ... that today really is a gift.  That's why we call it the 'present'.

Around the house... needs a little cleaning but things are basically pretty neat.

A favorite quote for today...  "May your troubles be less, may your blessings be more, and
may nothing but happiness come through your door."  Rosemary Eastes

A few plans for the rest of the week:  the movie tomorrow, shuffle and cardBingo on Wednesday,  Vitamin B12 shot on Thursday, the The Lake Placid Caladium Festival on Friday and a fish fry here in the park on Saturday.  Should be a fun week.

One of my favorite things... going to the movies.

Enough . . .

Our "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" group is going to the movies today.  We're going to see . . .  Hope Springs!! It's here just when we thought it would never get here.  So happy. Can hardly wait until this afternoon.

I have this lovely little gem to share with you today called ENOUGH.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more...
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.

TAKE TIME TO LIVE..... To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:   It's My Simple Womans Daybook Day.

Outside my window... the grass is green, the sky is blue, the sun is shining and it's shaping up to be another beautiful Florida summer day.

I am thinking...  that it's 9 a.m. and I should be in the bathroom getting dressed instead of sitting here in my pajamas.

I am thankful...  for every day that I am vertical and am free from bronchitis.

In the kitchen... tomorrow is our monthly potluck so I'll be baking a Marie Calendar razzleberry pie and making a dish of cheesy potatoes.

I am wearing...  pajamas right now.

I am creating...  a  community activities list for the upcoming centennial celebration in Sebring.

I am going...   to make a quick trip to the library today to return "Handyman" and pick up a book that I requested called 'Moon Shell Beach' by Nancy Thayer
Two women struggle to rekindle a childhood friendship damaged by harsh words, betrayal, and the passing years.

I am looking forward to...  The movie "Hope Spring" starring Meryl Streep & Tommy Lee Jones coming to a theater near me soon.  Sort of figured that the opening would be later around here since we are a small town rather than a major market.

I am learning ...  patience

Around the house...   no new projects planned at the moment

One of my favorite things... pictures of my grandkids.
that's my son, Matt in the back surrounded by Lizzie, Kelly, Matthew and Katie.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  going to the library today, potluck followed by cardBingo on Tuesday, shuffle on Wednesday and hand and foot just about every other day of the week.

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  it's My Simple Womans Daybook Day.
Outside my window...  the sun is shining, the pastures are green and growing, the cows are peacefully grazing and it's a mild 74 degrees out there.
I am thinking...  that I don't look forward to the long ride home (1' 30") but I'm always happy to come here.
I am thankful...  for our lovely w/e. We went to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino on Saturday and we both won for a change.  I noticed a display of Landau jewelry as we were leaving and saw some bracelets that I thought would make perfect gifties for the California girls so we got 5 (one is for me) of them.  Mine is called "Come to the Casino".  It has one dice and a slot machine. Pretty cute
In the kitchen...  the cupboard (refrigerator) is pretty bare.  Time for some grocery shopping.
I am wearing...  tan bottoms and a bright pink top. Bardfoot as usual.
I am going...  to take Dick to the doctor to get his stitches removed and then I'll be on my way home.
I am reading...  I finished Nicholas Sparks's "Safe Haven" and "Heart of the Matter" by Emily Giffin and started "The Handyman" by Linda Nichols
I am looking forward to...  August 10th. the same as last week . . .   The movie "Hope Spring" starring Meryl Streep & Tommy Lee Jones OPENS. Yah!! Problem is . . . Sebring is really not a huge market so I won't be surprised if our theater's don't get the movie right away.  Either way it will be well worth the wait.
Around the house...  painting the shed is still in the thinking stage. I've got some prep work to do before I get the paint.
I am pondering...  (please excuse the soapbox) WHY is it that they can put 'Curiosity' on Mars but they can't figure out how to manufacture solar panels that are affordable.  Florida is the Sunshine State and it seems to me that there should be solar panels on every roof in every town. Amen.
A favorite quote for today...  "Age is something that doesn't matter, unless you are a cheese." -
Billie Burke.
One of my favorite things...  the Olympics.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Dahli goes to the groomer and I go to the Doctor tomorrow.  Shuffle and cardBingo on Wednesday and Dahli goes to Dr. Saunder's for her annual check-up on Thursday. It's a doggie kind of week.
A peek into my day... Isn't Gabby Douglas just spectacular?
