Newest Addition to the Kitchen

Ran over to The Palms today and picked up my little treasure.  I called it a bakers' rack but once all the towels and apple stuff was removed I realized it had a wine rack with room enough for 10 bottles.  How great is that?  It was such a pleasant surprise.

Here's the spot that I picked out for my little treasure.  It's a little corner in the kitchen next to the fridge.

My new little treasure fits in the space just perfectly.  See what you think.

Isn't it just the cutest? and for $35 how could I go wrong!  Just think of all the fun I'll have filling it up!
Hope you're having a fun w/e. Hugz!

Apples!

Everything was apples at yesterday's Apple Festival at the Palms in Sebring.  I never saw so much apple stuff in one place in my entire life.  Here's what I brought home to munch on.  The apple dumplings were delicious and the applesauce bread was incredible.  Kuddos to the Chef.
Tomorrow I go back to to the Festival to pick up a bakers rack that I found at the Festival.  I'll be posting a picture of my new little purchase tomorrow.

Here's the latest picture of Caden that Amanda posted.  They are at the San Diego Zoo.  A fabulous place and it looks like he's having a fun time.

Have a great week end. Hugz!

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  It's My Simple Womans Daybook Day
Outside my window...  another overcast day with the feeling of Fall in the air.

I am thinking...  about the wonderful 4 days we had with our Kalifornia Kids.

I am thankful...  that we made the trip and had such a wonderful time with our children.

In the kitchen...  the cupboards are a little less bare since I went shopping yesterday.

I am wearing...  jean capri's, yellow tee and barefoot

I am creating...  an album of our California trip on Flickr.

I am going...  to bunco at the Shriner's today.

I am reading...  I finished 44 Charles Street by Danielle Steele and started "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" by Rachel Joyce.

I am hoping...   that my hand gets better today.  Some kind of flying insect bit my left hand yesterday.  It's totally swollen and  looks awful.

I am looking forward to... all the new TV shows starting this week.  Dancing With The Stars started yesterday.

Around the house... catching up on some stuff that wasn't done over the summer.

A favorite quote for today...  "A statesman is a man that can do what the politician would like to do but can’t, because he is afraid of not being elected." – July 5, 1934   Will Rogers

One of my favorite things...  Glade Candles.  Every bit as good as Yankee Candle Company   and at a much better price.

A few plans for the rest of the week: bunco today, shuffle and card Bingo on Wednesday, & the Apple Festival at the Palms on Thursday.

A peek into my day... Caden & I got to hug some characters at Disneyland on Monday.

Fall into Reading 2012

The first day of Autumn brings the beginning of "Fall into Reading 2012", hosted by Katrina @ Callipidder Days.

It’s a simple, low pressure event that runs during the fall season (September 22nd-December 21st) and works something like this.  Make a list of books you’d like to read and post your list at the beginning.  Read your books; change your list as you like.  No required list or number of books.  Post your progress at the end.   The basics and how to sign up are here.

My goal is to read at least five books during the fall season, pulling from this list to start.
*  The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce
*  The Unfinished Gift by Dan Walsh
*  When You Come Home by Nancy Cavin Pitts
*  Homestead by Jane Kirkpatrick
*  Merry's Christmas by Susan Rohrer
*  Behind Closed Doors by Jane Steen
*  Hotel On the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
*  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

This list is subject to change since I keep finding more & more "gotta reads".  If this sounds good to you, I hope you'll join us by clicking on the links above.

Enjoy the first day of autumn and Happy Reading!

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  It's My Simple Womans Daybook Day
Outside my window... it's raining.  I'm posting my entry late today.  Had I done it this morning I would have said it was sunny & warm.

I am thinking...  we are no longer in drought status here in Florida.  T.S. Debbie, T.S. Isaac and our summer rains have taken care of that problem.

I am thankful...  that my visit to the Toyota dealership this morning for an oil change and tire rotation cost me $0, nothing, nada, zilch.  I loved it.  I was so sure they would find something, anything that would cost $$$ but they didn't.  I drove away with a big smile on my face.

In the kitchen...   Marie Callender's Country Fried Chicken & Gravy with creamy mashed potatoes and Corn in buttery, garlic sauce. These are really big meals so I ate half yesterday and half today.  Pretty good.

I am wearing...   beige capri's, striped tee shirt and footies.

I am creating...  my travel itinerary

I am going...   to California on Saturday the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
I am wondering...  how I will survive the 8 hour plane ride to get there. Lot's of ankle flexes and a good book to read, I guess.

I am reading...   I just finished "Summerland" by Elin Hilderbrand.  I ordered "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" at the library but if that doesn't come in by Friday, I have "For My Daughters" by Barbara Delinsky and "Summer on Blossom Street" by Debbie Macomber to read.

I am hoping...   that my sweet little Dahli will do ok at Joyce's house while I'm gone.  We go there every day for coffee at 3 o'clock so she's pretty comfortable there.

I am looking forward to...  flying outta here on Saturday.
I am learning . . . about all the airline regulations regarding carry on stuff.

Around the house...   did a deep clean on Friday and Saturday.  The car maintenance was done this morning and Truly Nolen was here this afternoon for my annual termite inspection.
A favorite quote for today... "There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full."
Henry A. Kissinger

One of my favorite things...   my grandkids and one great grandson

A peek into my day...   This is Caden Carlin Stewart.  A really big name for a really big boy.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I'll be thinking about Sept 11 tomorrow & will probably watch any special programs they may have, the rest of the week will be routine stuff plus getting ready for my trip.

If It's Monday . . .

FOR TODAY:  it's My Simple Womans Daybook Day
Outside my window...  the sun is shining and the morning temp is below 70 for the first time in many months.  The leaves from the sycamore tree are all over the lawn. Guess that means that Fall will soon be here.

I am thinking... that today's Labor Day potluck was great!

I am thankful... everyone pitches in at the potlucks and makes a difficult job so easy.

In the kitchen... leftovers from the Labor Day Potluck

I am wearing...  shorts, tee top and footies

I am going...  to bed as soon as I'm done with this entry!

I am reading...  I finished "Moon Shell Beach" and started "Summerland" by Elin Hilderbrand.
On a warm June evening, the students of Nantucket High gather for the traditional graduation bonfire on the beach.  But the celebration ends in tragedy after a horrible car crash leaves . . . .
I am looking forward to...  my upcoming trip

Around the house...  I've let things go a bit inside so right now I need to do a quick clean.

A favorite quote for today...  "Cherish forever what makes you unique, cause you're really a yawn if it goes."  Bette Midler

A few plans for the rest of the week: Dahli goes to the groomer tomorrow, shuffle on Wednesday followed by taking the car to the dealership for an oil change. Cleaning this house on Thursday and Friday.  Such fun!!

One of my favorite things... potlucks

A peek into my day... Some of the food at the potluck.
