Yesterday was my grandson, Christopher's 15th birthday. Happy Birthday sweetie!
If Gramps is doing OK we'll be at Disney on the w/e to celebrate Chris's birthday.
Those of us that didn't watch the SAG awards, were watching Downton Abbey. So sad! Sybil delivered her baby (a little girl) & then the effects of toxemia set in and she passes away! A real shocker! So sad!
Dick & I had a really nice day today. We met our dear friends, Claudia & Tony at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. The food was great and the company was even greater. Lots of catching up to do after not seeing each other for a whole year. Tony took this picture of Claudia & I gabbing away.
They agreed to follow us to the farm and we spent the rest of the day talking. Thanks to Claudia for helping me with some computer issues. Isn't it amazing how the time flies when you're doing nothing except enjoying time with friends?
Today was movie day. We saw Les Miz. I loved it even tho it was a wee bit on the long side. Now that I've seen both Lincoln and Les Miz, I haven't the slightest idea of which one should win BEST film. I wish it were possible for BOTH to win.
Tomorrow is our annual Community Garage Sale. I will be selling coffee & donuts. A group of ladies will be making funnel cakes so I'll be selling them too (when I'm not busy eating one, that is)!! If you're in the neighborhood, I hope you'll stop by for a look around and a bite to eat! Hope yours is a happy w/e.
I planned on doing my usual Simple Womans Daybook entry this morning but that all changed when the phone rang and it was Ginny needing a ride to the E.R. She was having trouble breathing and hadn't eaten or had anything to drink in 2 days so she was dehydrated & in desperate need of attention. So SWD was put on the back burner & off to the E.R. we went.
The long awaited 3rd season of Downton Abbey started Sunday evening. It was full of all sorts of juicy details & did not disappoint those of us who have been patiently waiting for it to begin. Just love this show.
We've been hearing about and talking about "Lincoln" for some time now and guess what? It's finally come to one of our theaters, so it was off the movies for a group of us today. If you've already seen it then you already know what a great film it is and if you haven't seen it then you have something to look forward to.
Next on the list is Les Miserables. Although I've never seen it on stage, I've seen it numerous times on PBS and the cast and music never cease to amaze me. Darylynn has already told us it's a tear jerker and to take plenty of tissues so afterwards I'll be needing to see a Comedy. We saw the trailer for
Parental Guidance starring Billy Crystal and Beth Middler. Can't think of 2 actors more than capable of tickling just about anyone's funny bone. The cover for my Kindle came today and I gotta say 'I love it'. It's every bit as nice as I thought it would be. Right now I'm reading "Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen and loving it. Just got done listening to "God is Great, beer is good and people are crazy" by Billy Carrington. I love that song. It's HERE if you wanna listen.
I'm taking a suggestion from Susan Branch this year. Instead of thinking about Goals &/or resolutions, I'll be thinking in terms of THE CARE AND FEEDING OF DREAMS. Dreams. . . you gotta have them . . .they are so much better than resolutions, don't you think? Dreams can be very flexible. they can stay dreams or they can become a reality if only we care for them and feed them. That's what really nice about dreams. So how do you care for and feed your dreams? You gotta check out Susan's page to find that out. My granddaughter, Amanda's dream came true. Being in NYC on New Years Eve was her dream and it came true this year. Here she is with hubby, James in NYC.
WICKED!!!! — with James Stewart at Wicked On Broadway-Gershwin Theater. When I'm not busy caring for & feeding my dreams, I'll be reading or playing games on my Kindle. Really like my new little toy. Ordered a case for it yesterday and that should come on Friday. If you're looking for a case for yours, check out THIS LINK. Happy hump day!
