Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my Mom's birthday.  She would have been 102.  She's 86 in this picture.  She was the sweetest kindest lady you could ever imagine.  I still miss her vert y much.

Matt got here around 1:30 yesterday.  We had lunch, took a nap and then got ready for game night at the Community Hall.  We played STIX and 5 Crowns.  He said he really enjoyed himself.  I'm glad cause we sure enjoyed having him.  He left for the farm this morning and I'll follow tomorrow.  Looking forward to one of Matt's famous fish fries.

There's this big beautiful Sycamore tree that lives in the yard of my neighbori across the street.  I love that tree.  She gives me tons of shade in the morning & well into the afternoon.  She has huge leaves which are a pain to clean every Fall but I pick them up w/o complaining because I know that every tree no matter what kind or size is worth it's weight in gold.

Sad news yesterday straight from the mouth of the owner.   Big beautiful tree is coming down.  Her roots are lifting up the sidewalk and house pad and she's home to too many ants.  The only solution they can reach is: cut her  down.  I will cry when it happens and I will miss her very much.

#7) Silver Linings Playbook

It's been a while since my last entry about AARP's Best Movies.  This movie is the BEST INTERGENERATIONAL MOVIE.

Silver Linings Playbook
After a four-year stay in a psychiatric institution, former teacher Pat Peoples has no choice but to move back in with his parents. While he's trying in vain to reunite with his wife, Pat meets another woman fated to change his life.

Cast: Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, Julia Stiles, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham

Director:David O. Russell

This is an xcellent film in depicting mental illnesses' effect on families and on society in general. There are many wounded characters here, but due to a emotional script and heartfelt performances, this film is far from depressing, but is joyful and hopeful in its conclusion. I gave it 3 stars.

Memorial Day

I spent the last few days at the farm and came back home yesterday afternoon.
Today is our annual Memorial Day potluck in the Community Hall.  American flags are flying in the yards and common areas & the level of patriotism is running high here.  The feeling of "God Bless America" is in the air.
Hope  yours is a lovely day.  Happy picnicing and if you're traveling, safe trip.

All's Well

I haven't been very thoughtful by neglecting my blog and causing a few of you to become conerned.  Actually, all is well right now and hopefully that will continue the rest of the summer.

I started Spring housecleaning and got so terribly involved that I started neglecting my blog.  One day turned into one week and when I thought about writing . . . I really didn't have much to say.  The movies I wanted to rent from Netflix had long waiting list so that to be put on hold too!  So although I  don't have a very good reason for not blogging, I'm thnking the 'dry spell' problem has happened to most of us so I'm hoping you will understand.

Spring cleaning is finally done and the last of the movies I was waiting for are finally available so things should be getting back to normal for me soon.  In the meantime,  please accept my little gift of Love to all of you.
