This Week . . .

I'm reading . . .
The massive orphan train exodus whisked three-year-old Teresa from the safety of her New York orphanage, where the worst thing the Foundling nuns did was wash her curly black hair, to a desolate house and cold-hearted "parents" in Kansas.  Mail-Order Kid looks at the orphan train movement through the eyes of one small child who yearns to know her "real" mother, survives a tortured childhood, and ultimately, as an adult, comes to terms with her past, her faith, and herself.

I'm watching . . .
When Walt Disney's daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers' "Mary Poppins," he made them a promise-one that he didn't realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine.

I'm cleaning . . .
the kitchen

The ladies here in Lake Bonnet Village will celebrate Mother's Day with a luncheon at the Garden Cafe on Friday.  That way we will be available for our families on Sunday.

Happy Mother's Day to anyone who happens to stop by.   Hope your day is as special as you are! Hugz!
